AP Five people drowned in Godavari river

Eluru, Jul 18 (UNI) Five people, including three women, were drowned in the Godavari river at Gollagudem village in Yetapaka mandal of Polavaram district today.
Police said that five deceased ventured into the river for fishing and drowned. The deceased were identified as Ooke Sushila (37), Ooke Lakshmi (37), Turram Bharati (40), Bhasuboina Balaraju (38) and Ooke Ramesh (38), all the tribal people.

The bodies were fished out from the river and shifted to the GGH for postmortem. The deceased belonged to G Kottagudem and a pall of gloom descended on the village with the death of five people.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed grief over the death of five tribal people. He spoke to the officials and sought the details. Deputy Chief Minister K Pawan Kalyan also grieved on hearing the tragic news of the drowning of five tribal people in Godavari river.

Former Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed profound grief over the tragic death of five tribal people who were swept away by the swollen waters of the Godavari river near Gollagudem in Yetapaka mandal while fishing.

He urged the State government to immediately extend all possible support to the affected families and provide them with adequate financial assistance.
